World’s Best Ex Girlfriend by Durjoy Datta PDF Download
World’s Best Ex-Girlfriend by Durjoy Datta. Last year, the book World’s Best Girlfriend was released, and this one is its sequel, the second part. In my review of World’s Best Girlfriend, I had already mentioned that the book ended at a point where a sequel was clearly coming. The author also stated at the end of the first book that the story would continue in the sequel and that it would arrive very soon.
I must say, it really did arrive quickly, especially since the third part of his other series, The Boy Who Loved and The Boy with a Broken Heart, has not been released yet. Many people have commented asking why that third part hasn’t come. In fact, I personally messaged Durjoy Datta on Instagram asking him to release it. Even after finishing this book, I messaged him about this book and shared my views.
The first book ended at the point where Aanchal runs to the hospital where Daksh is admitted and is about to propose to him. Unfortunately, Amrita reaches there first and proposes to Daksh. The book ends right there, stating that the rest of the story will continue in the next part.
Now, coming to this part—first, I want to clarify that the last 25% of the first book and the first 30% of this book are almost the same. The remaining 5% difference is that the earlier events of the first book—like the Andaman and Nicobar story, why Daksh left Dubai for Mumbai, and other background details—are briefly summarized here. This is likely done for readers who haven’t read the first part, so they get some context.
For those who have already read the first part, the book starts from the same point—Varnita’s wedding in Dubai, Gaurav, and Daksh’s involvement. So, the first 25–30% can be skipped. I did the same, as I listened to both books side by side on Audible and compared them.
After that, the story moves forward, showing that Aanchal shifts to New York because she believes Daksh is happy with Amrita. The story progresses in time gaps—two years later they meet, then again after two years, and then after four more years. The story concludes when Daksh is 37 years old, whereas it began when he was 19.
I won’t reveal what happens in the end. It’s a romance novel, and I don’t want to spoil the experience. I have mixed opinions about the ending. Overall, both books are very good, and it was already mentioned that this would be the concluding part. The book ends in a way that clearly suggests there will be no further sequel.
The book explores Daksh’s relationship with Amrita, how he raises his younger sister Rabbani, Amrita’s children, parenting aspects, relationships, marriage, and also the lives of other characters like Gaurav and Varnita.
Durjoy Datta’s way of expressing love, unconditional love, and relationships is beautiful. At times, it makes you wish such love existed in real life too. Overall, Durjoy Datta is one of the most famous romance novel writers in India.
The biggest takeaway from this series is that people make mistakes at every age—18, 22, 26, 30, 34—but learning from those mistakes, accepting them, and moving forward is important. This applies equally to both men and women.
In the end, I would rate this book 4.4 out of 5 stars. Easy language, easy writing, a very good story, and a smooth flow. I wasn’t bored at all and finished the book in a single sitting.
