Too Good to Be True by Prajakta Koli Summary
Too Good to Be True by Prajakta Koli. You must know Prajakta Koli — she is one of the most popular creators in India, and I love her attitude and the way she talks, the way she plays with words. I love that, and that’s why when I got this book, I was so excited to read it.
I finished this book in about three days. I didn’t count the hours, but I remember starting it at around 8:00 a.m. and reading till 12:00 p.m. The book contains around 310 pages, and the quality of the book is great — the cover feels smooth and rubbery.
Aan’s favorite thing to do is bury her nose in romance novels. But honestly, life can’t be trusted to make the stories real, right? In the bookstore where she works, a man walks in straight out of the pages of her favorite love stories. Aman is hot, successful, seems to know what she is going to say before she says it, and just cannot get enough of her. In short, he is perfect. Then why is Aani losing her mind, ignoring the advice of her BFFs, and trying to convince herself that he is just too good to be true? Will Aman ever be able to figure her out, and will Avani allow him to?
The story revolves around two main characters — Aani and Aman. Avani comes from a simple family. She was brought up by her Aaji, as she doesn’t have parents. There’s another story behind that. Currently, she is not living with her Aaji, who stays in Pune. Avani comes to Mumbai to follow her dream of becoming a lawyer, and she works a part-time job alongside her studies. She works in a bookstore as an accountant, and there she meets Aman — a perfect, tall, handsome, and very rich man.
Aman comes from a wealthy background. He runs his family business in Mumbai and lives alone in a flat near the bookstore where Avani works. His parents live in Mussoorie in a grand mansion — the kind we see in Bollywood movies. When Avani sees Aman for the first time, she feels something special about him. From that day, she starts getting ready, putting on a little makeup, being organized, and waiting in the bookstore just to get a glimpse of him. Her day fills with excitement and butterflies.
After some days, they start spending time together. Beside the bookstore, there’s a cafĂ© run by one of Avani’s best friends, Martin. From there, their relationship begins to grow. They spend time together and seem happy. But things take a turn when Aani is invited to Aman’s parents’ anniversary party. There, a misunderstanding happens, and their relationship breaks apart.
What happens next? Will Aman and Aani be together in the future? Will they live a happy life? Will their love win? If you want to know the answers to all these questions, you have to read the book. I must tell you that this book is not going to disappoint you even once. It was a real page-turner. I kept wondering what was going to happen next and felt so excited while reading.
I loved how Prajakta played with sentences and words. At first, I struggled a little because of her writing style and the terms she used, but as I continued reading, I got used to it and enjoyed it a lot. If she writes any book in the future, I’ll definitely read it. She is one of my favorite creators and now one of my favorite writers as well.
